Family Times

Reality is that we accomplish very little if we do not purpose to do so. In other words I have to make plans or set priorities if I really want to accomplish a goal. The purpose for our Family TIME page is to give parents some ideas for spending quality yet creative time with their children.
We want to refocus this page to be more relevant for families. Because reality teaches us that a true Family Night might be next to impossible for most of us, maybe we need to concentrate on a smaller amount of time.
Examples:

At the breakfast table / In the drive through line
To and from school / On the freeway
Waiting for a fill up at the gas station
In the check out line and many others

Guidelines for a Family Night
Make it Fun:

Enjoy yourself. If you and your children are having FUN, you will continue having Family nights and you will create lasting memories. BUT, if you have to fight with your kids over having a Family night it will be doomed from the start.
Keep it Simple:
Use single verses or at most short passages. Single truths are easier to retain and focus on retaining values.
Don’t Dominate:
Remember this is “Family” night, not Dad’s night to preach. Let the kids read the verse and explain it’s meaning with parent’s being the guide.

Reality is that quality moments of our lives go by without our noticing them. If we could capture those moments, we can more accurately “train up our children in the way they should go”. Simply said, “Carpe Momentum” – “Seize the Moment”. Direct the conversation and thoughts of your family in theses moments, toward God. “Whatsoever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report…” Phi 4:8
Try these areas to focus on:

WWJD (what would Jesus do?)
Let’s recite that memory verse we learned in church /
Let’s pray right now / What does God’s word say or mean/ How do you want to be treated

Make an effort, purpose in your heart to guide the conversation and thoughts of your family. Rest assured we support and pray for the families of the greater bay area. Let us hear from you if FAMILY TIME is helpful to you.
God bless your family
