The Jaime home became the laboratory for Pastor David’s foundation of marriage and family. David, followed by four girls and then three boys, leads the birth order of James and Marcelina Jaime’s eight children.  The Jaime household may have lacked some of the finer things that life affords, but certainly excelled with a rich family environment.  It is within the loving relationship of David’s father and mother that the understanding of covenant marriage first sprang.  To be a husband, father and family man became Pastor David’s ultimate desire. 

Pastor David agrees that you never know where the road of life may lead you.  A veteran of the Vietnam War, a truck driver, a successful businessman in a major steel company, the assistant manager of a tomato processing plant and a television executive all filled Pastor David’s resume before he became a pastor in 1990.  Intertwined among his early years is a marriage, birth of his two children and divorce.  With dreams shattered, Pastor David moved forward always making life choices for the benefit of his children.  Then in 1982 Pastor David married a college sweetheart… Beverly Freitas.

His death to the vision of marriage and family was reborn.  A plaque hangs over the front door of Pastor David’s home that reads, “God made us a family, we belong to each other.”  Together Pastor David and Pastor Beverly work hand in hand to build their home, ministry and life.  The joy of five grandchildren and three generations serving the Lord at Cathedral of Faith is a testament of God’s plan and purpose for a single solitary life.

Out of the pain of personal heartache coupled with restoration comes a depth of knowledge and wisdom that gives Pastor David the ability to relate to the single parent, the nuclear family and the blended marriage.

Balance is an important character trait for Pastor David with his marriage, family, ministry and life.  He has a zeal for living, an incredibly caring heart and shares contagious joy.  From working out regularly to boating to camping to playing softball to being a cameraman for the San Jose Sharks to enjoying his motorcycle, Pastor David knows how to live life to the fullest.  He’s genuine, real and approachable.
