LHP Testimonies
The
Day Of Death Leads To Life
Three years
ago Janie Mattson became a Lighthouse of Prayer. Month
after month she remained faithful to sincerely pray for
the salvation of her neighbors.
September 11, 2001
Then that terrifying day happened
when so many people were killed in the terrorists
attacks. Janie’s heart was deeply stirred. She felt
convicted. “Have I not prayed with passionate faith
? Lord, I want to see something happen,” became
her cry.
September 16, 2001
Returning home from church Sunday,
September 16, Janie saw Felipe just as she had done
hundreds of times before. This time there was a bounce
in her step and a joy in her voice. “Hello Felipe,
I’m so happy today”, she proclaimed.
“Why”, he asked. Spontaneously
with great exuberance Janie responded, “I just came
from church and the traffic was backed up a mile to get
off the freeway. I had to park way in the back so many
people were there.”
Perplexed Felipe questioned, “Why
are so many people going to church?” Felipe, people
need God”, came her reply.
A discussion ensued and Felipe let it
be known that he wanted to make Jesus Christ his Savior.
Janie didn’t think he could understand her fully
and suggested that she call a friend who speaks Spanish.
Help From Another Church
Rosa and her boyfriend were about
to go into a meeting at their church in less than five
minutes. Once Rosa enters a meeting, the cell phone is
turned off. Janie was fortunate. She reached Rosa in
time and made arrangements for Rosa to come over
immediately.
When Janie, Rosa and her boyfriend
entered Felipe’s home, they surprising met not only
Felipe, but his wife, son, niece and nephew. Everyone
prayed to receive Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Bible Study Birthed
Elated and thrilled, plans were made to begin a
Bible study. Felipe’s family were so deeply moved,
they invited twenty other family members to join them.
Rose’s boyfriend asked Janie why she didn’t lead
Felipe to Christ herself. Janie quickly noted, “Had
I prayed with Felipe, I would have lead one man to
Christ. Instead, an extended family is now saved!”
The Fulfillment of Ministry
To hear Janie express the joy,
contentment and fulfillment she receives as a Lighthouse
of Prayer will cause even the most apathetic believer to
marvel and consider becoming a Lighthouse of Prayer.
Rhonda's Pleasant Surprise
How can
God work through your life to bring those you have been
praying for to salvation? Perhaps it will happen at the
upcoming Ministry Outreach concert with The Katinas.
Read the following account from Rhonda Butlter. She
prayed for her neighborhood for two years before taking
the next step to reach the lost! In her own words read
what the Holy Spirit has surprisingly accomplishing in
her neighborhood when she decided to invite them to a
church event this past Easter.
Here is a summary of another victory
in Christ through the Lighthouses of Prayer ministry.
Since I became a Lighthouse, God has put it upon my
heart to remember in prayer all the families on my block
and up and down my street. As I prayed earnestly, I
didn't really know what God was going to do but I
believed He would do something.
Rhonda Steps Out
During Easter week, being busy as usual with
life's many tasks, I casually invited a couple of
friends to the Good Friday service. One of the friends
lives down the street and the other is my daughter's
basketball coach. My neighbor (who lives down the
street), to my surprise accepted the invitation. She
wanted to bring her children. My other friend asked me
to take his daughter but he could not attend.
On the evening of Good Friday, my
friend brought three of her children ages 11, 13 and 14
as well as her neighbor, Brian who is 13. Brian lives in
a cul-de-sac which I ask the Lord to bless daily. I had
never met Brian until this particular evening. I went to
pick up another child and we all headed to Cathedral of
Faith.
A Grand Total Of Nine
Along with my daughters, all nine
of us arrived early. Praise the Lord! From the moment
the service began all eyes and ears were attentive. The
end of the service came and after Pastor Kenny's
invitation, Brian stood up as well as David (age 11)!
David was sobbing uncontrollably. Brian was close.
Praise be to God both of the young men accepted Christ!
I believe that through the
ministry of the Lighthouses of Prayer, God poured out
his Spirit and won two souls! I still keep these boys in
prayer specifically and believe that God will work
through them as they grow older. I ask that the
believers lift them up too. David's family is going
through a rough time right now (divorce) and we are
praying for divine intervention in his family. My
neighbors are being saved and the Light is coming
through! Praise be to God!
The Outreach Continues
The young lady who attended with
me had a dream about the service and she said she
couldn't get it off of her mind! She came back on Easter
Sunday! She really needs prayer also.
Thank you for such a powerful
ministry - PRAYER! It reaps big rewards!
Florence
Expands Her Perimeter
Several years ago Florence called
her church and declared, “I have expanded my
Perimeter of Faith to include the Burbank Theater. God
is going to close down this adult theater.”
Every so often Florence would confirm her faith
by touching base with her church and reiterating her
belief that Christ would clean up this city block. A
victory call was recently placed by Florence who shouted
Mission Accomplished! To God Be The Glory!
Now Florence is strategically targeting her prayers
toward a second adult entertainment establishment in the
same general proximity.
Most importantly, Florence is moved to pray for those
caught in this lifestyle will receive Christ’s love
and be delivered.
F rom 30 seconds to
Evangelist,
Pastor,
Missionary
What can 30 seconds a day of
blessing prayer lead to? Just ask Daniel Terrones of Dan’s
Barber Shop, Rachel Guttierrez, Kim Diep or Janie
Mattson…
Dan’s Barber Shop
A Lighthouse To The City!
The Lord is still using me as
an instrument for His Glory! Here are donations of $120
cash from the customers that I have ministered to and
prayed with. It’s the greatest feeling to see many
come to my Barber Shop to say good things about what
they have experienced after we’ve prayed. Some don’t
even come in for haircuts. They come by to say thanks to
Cathedral of Faith for allowing Lighthouses of Prayer to
reach people.
I always remind them that what I do here
is not for Dan or Dan’s Barber Shop, but it’s all
for God’s glory! Recently I stayed after hours at work
because there were so many that needed that spiritual
help to punch holes in the darkness. We will continue in
our reaching, teaching and preaching.
A simple, convenient commitment to daily
spend 30 seconds to pray blessing prayer on those living
around you whom you might not necessarily know…
neighbors, co-workers and classmates… can lead to a
life of incredible expanded ministry and satisfaction.
Shining
His Light In The Women’s Jail
Rachel Gutierrez expanded as a
Lighthouse of Prayer from the neighborhood to the
prison. Here’s a copy of her recent e-mail.
I am really blessed to be under the
covering of Cathedral of Faith and all your prayers. You
should see the changes in these girls in jail. I
encourage them to pray together for each other and for
us Lighthouses, pastors and whatever prayer needs there
are. So, now they are meeting every night at 10:30 pm
for what they call a Circle Of Prayer.
If you remember at 10:30 pm, know
that these girls are praying and sending blessings.
Three of the girls got moved to another dorm and they
started another Circle of Prayer. God is doing something
wonderful in these girls at CCW jail”.
From
Lighthouses To Foreign Missionaries
Janie Mattson and Kim Diep so
developed as Lighthouses of Prayer, they became short
term missionaries to El Salvador. Kim is one of five out
of eighteen members of her family who survived a sinking
refugee boat trying to escape Vietnam in the 70’s.
Janie never dreamed that God would use her to not only
influence the neighbors on her street, but people of
other nations. Both women trace a major contributor of
their ministry growth back to joining Lighthouses of
Prayer.
One LHP -
Pastoring The Neighborhood
Long Term Lighthouse
I wanted to send you a
little diagram of my Perimeter Of Faith I have
walked through since Lighthouses of Prayer started at
Cathedral (Jan. 1994). I have thoroughly enjoyed every
minute of it. I’ve seen a few changes in our
neighborhood. There is more order, more peace.
Even my sister when she came to visit said she
sensed a more passiveness when she turned onto
our street.
88 Home Perimeter
My Perimeter includes 88 homes. I’ve
identified myself to everyone; all 88 neighbors.
I have had the privilege of praying personally with some
of them. one is grateful for prayer. Praise the
Lord.
Safest Airport In Bay
Area
My perimeter also includes a
community center, a library and even the Hillview
Airport. I pray for our safety, for the pilots and that
God will give the people in the tower godly wisdom! I
pray that none take off, that is, pilots or airplanes
unless they are 100% capable! And guess what? Two years
ago Hillview Airport was named the safest airport in
the area! It was in the Mercury News.
Drive By Prayer
Well, I’m not limited to just my
Perimeter Of Faith, because when I’m in my car I do drive
by prayers where ever I go! My grandson attends
Overfelt High School and he prays for the high school. I
participated with him in See You At The Pole!
Let me tell you, what a blessing to hear these young
people pray! If you ever want to be blessed
listen to some of these kids pray! My grandson has a
friend that the Lord is using to witness to teachers.
God has given him grace with them and some teachers have
attended our church because of their invitation.
Needless to say, I’m excited about serving the
Lord!
