Scripture: Proverbs 23:15-16
Lauren Manning

Scripture:
My son, if your heart is wise then my heart will be glad indeed;
my inmost being will rejoice when your lips speak what is right.

Observation:
Wisdom and parenting—these two verses talk about the immense joy a parent can have when their children make wise choices. The reward of seeing your child make right decisions is enough to make every part of you—down to your core—explode with happiness.

Application:
There’s no way around it-being a parent is hard. I remember taking my now 7-year old son (or 7 and 3/4 years old as he would say) home from the hospital after he was born thinking, “They’re just sending me home with this little human? Where’s the handbook?” Through my almost eight years of parenting, I’ve found that developing my son’s character has been, and probably will be, the most difficult part of parenting. How in the world do I help my strong-willed, funny, creative little boy make right the right choices— especially when I’m not around? How do I know I’m doing this parenting thing right?

With questions constantly running through my mind, I can say there is no feeling on this planet as when you see your child make wise decisions. Pass on your wisdom to your children and watch them do a world of good—I just love how God makes your children the greatest blessing you will ever find.

Prayer:
God, I thank you for the blessing of our children. I thank you for giving me the responsibility of raising the next generation. Help me to pass on my wisdom in a way that my children can understand and put into practice in their lives.

In Jesus Name, Amen.
