Scripture: Proverbs 22:17-19
Pastor Rommell Corpuz

Scripture:
Pay attention and turn your ear to the sayings of the wise; apply your heart to what I teach, for it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart and have all of them ready on your lips. So that your trust may be in the Lord, I teach you today, even you.

Observation:
As we continue the journey through the book of Proverbs, so much wisdom makes its way into our minds. The 22nd  chapter is not short on wisdom as it focuses our minds in on the contrast of the life of a humble & generous one and the life of a proud & selfish one. So powerful are the words of the author that you can feel the esteem of the righteous, see what’s in the pit for the foolish, since the fear of the faithless in the face of the faithful.

Then we are met with some very important instructions. If we let ourselves get caught up in our own intellectual thirst for knowledge or lost in our own emotional fulfillment of justice, we may miss it. We go right by it as an unthought provoking verse or even an emotionless statement. Yet, more than simple instructions, this verse is a clear directive that gets to the heart of this chapter in specific wisdom. This is not a mere suggestion that maybe you should think about this one. No, it’s massive requirement of you. To do this otherwise risks missing all it has in store for your life. In fact, it’s at the top of the 30 Sayings Of The Wise list. It’s that important.

Application:
Pay Attention.
By the time we get here the wisdom is so good that it gets lost in our thoughts and emotions.
Take It To Heart.
Don’t just let it go in one ear and out the other. Keep it in between your ears long enough to make it to your heart. Let it filter through your feelings enough to penetrate your heart. There the Lord moves.
Simply Trust.
Be sure in Him and only Him. Do not to complicate the words of the Lord as He speaks in and through you. Yes, that means you that think you are not good enough. Yes, even you that think you have heard it more than enough. Even you.

Prayer:
Thank YouLord for the diligence that you bless us with as we spend the time we need to take your wisdom to heart.

For what I do not see, you see.
For what I miss, you never miss.
For what I am poor at, you give what I need to excel at.

In Jesus Name, Amen.
