Scripture: Proverbs 20:7
Pastor Ignacio Garcia

Scripture:
The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed after him.

Observation:
DNA is transferred from parents to children. For example, moms may pass on features like their beautiful smile or naturally curly hair to their daughters. Dad may pass on other characteristics to their boys. I believe there are patterns and traits we pass on to our children too, both good and bad. How I live my life today can affect my family’s future. Many families, like my own, have dealt with what is called a “generational curse.” This is living the opposite of our Proverb. An unrighteous man who walks in his own understanding and selfish sinful ways- his children too will be cursed. Sinful patterns and sinful ways can be picked up from generation to generation. There is then a repetition of pattern or cycle that can be transferred and lived out from us to our children. I am blessed to say Christ has broken those generational curses in our family.

Application:
The greatest influence & example you can have on your children is to do all you can to live righteously before God. Our family creed shouldn’t be “Do as I say not as I do.” We should walk the walk and talk the talk and be the Godly example of a man or women after Gods own heart. Be one who walks with integrity. There is a tug of war going on for our children’s attention & future. Let us be the stronger tug bringing them into the things of God. This proverb teaches us to live humbly, walk with integrity, be selfless and put God in the center of your family and He will bless your children because of your life. I want to leave generational blessings instead of generational curses for my children.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank you for Your grace & mercy- not only in my family but all the families you have touched. Thank you for your salvation, and for giving a new life and a new hope. I pray for those reading this—let them be encouraged in their own families. Let the change start in us. Let our walk with you grow stronger for our own soul and for our families. We thank you for all you have done, and all you continue to do and will do on our behalf. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
