Scripture: Proverbs 28:13
Pastor Jesalyn Holman

Scripture:
He who covers his sins will not prosper,
But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.

Observation:
Nod your head if you have ever sinned. If you are not nodding your head, then you’re not telling the truth, which means you are lying, which is #9 on the Ten Commandments, which means you just sinned.

All of us are sinners. We all sin. When we choose to hide our sin, we are choosing to hinder ourselves. We hinder the growth of our relationship with God and the relationships with the ones we choose to sin against. We hinder the growth of our minds and hearts, as they are clouded with guilt. And ultimately, we hinder the love and freedom that was given to us through Christ Jesus.

Application:
Sin hinders and separates us. And yet, it’s our human nature to cover it. Our Holy and Perfect God loved us so much that He sent Christ as a sacrifice for our sins and shame. God already took the first step in forgiving our failings and shortcoming. It’s us who now confess and let them go.

I know, that I am far from perfect, I know I sin every day. I am a sinner. We are all sinners! And yet, Jesus loves us, and wants a relationship with us. I know that I am the one who hinders that relationship whenever I choose to hide my sins. And if you are reading this, then I am sure you are in the same boat as me. Today is the day for us to search our hearts. I hope you can take the time to reflect and believe this prayer in your heart and confess your sins to the Lord today.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
I am a sinner. And even though I am a sinner, You love me and want a relationship with me. I am the one that hinders that relationship when I choose to hold onto my sins. I let go of my fear, shame and sins today, knowing Jesus Christ already payed for them on the cross. Help me to turn from my sins and continue to follow you today. Thank You for Your mercy and love.
Amen.
