Scripture: Proverbs 5:1
Pastor Daniel Herrera

Scripture:
“Listen to me, my son! I know what I am saying; Listen! – The Living Bible

Observation:
Has anyone ever told you, “Don’t make the same mistake I did!” or have you ever tried to help someone with the same words?
This is what Solomon is saying to his son. He is saying, “Been there, done that. Learn from my mistakes.”
When you are listening, you’re continually learning and benefiting from others without being resentful, this is a sign of maturity.
Solomon refers to himself with “me and I,” thus personalizing this Proverb to his son (and all of us!).

Application:
“Listen to me” occurs in ‘The Living Bible’ 84 times. Why are we being told this so many times?
Because we’re NOT Listening!
Sir Winston Churchill once said, “I like to learn, but I do not like to be taught.
If you’re talking (ya, right, I know!) at the same time someone is giving you advise, you can’t me listening and learning.

Prayer:
Father allow me to keep my ears open to the wisdom of others, never allow me to become overzealous in my own understanding, but to delight in the experiences other share with me. Help me to become the person you designed me to be. In your Son, Jesus.

Amen
